Bio-based Carbon Electrochemically Decorated with Cu Nanoparticles: Green Synthesis and Electrochemical Performance

This study aimed to synthesize a composite material composed of bio-based, porous carbon matrix and Cu nanoparticles through simple, low-cost, environmentally friendly method. Concentrated Kraft black liquor was used as precursor, were homogeneously deposited on the using electrochemical deposition. The textural properties determined N2 isotherms indicated increased surface area with micro-mesoporous structure. Voltammetric tests demonstrated that exhibited catalytic for CO2 reduction. Compared sample (C matrix), bio-based electrode electrochemically decorated (C–Cu composite) current values approximately 2.4 times, potential shift 90 mV, an onset −1.02 V, under saturation.
